Viking Aerospace offers a multitude of services, including design and engineering consultancy, pilot and flight test services, flight training, and UAS modeling with parameter and system identification.
Flight Test Support
We have several UAV flight test pilots that can be deployed in support of UAV flight testing. These services typically involve operating as a backup pilot for UAV autopilot testing. These services are often contracted in conjunction with engineering consulting services. In this manner we can offer a complete UAV support solution including a pilot and an engineer both with intimate knowledge of the weControl flight control systems to our customers.
In order to identify the parameters of the linear model that then serves as the foundation for the controller synthesis, flight data has to be collected. In manual flight near hover, frequency sweeps on all input axes are performed and the data is logged onboard. For that reason, an experienced helicopter pilot is a crucial component during this phase of the integration process. The data is preprocessed and fitted to the model using a prediction error method. An example model fitting result for the roll and pitch axes is displayed in Figure 1.
